the speakeasy at yeah write #73 is open

Saalon Muyo fixed the speakeasy’s comment form this weekend. Thanks, Eric! I thought it would be fun to play comment games, between reading blogs as they appear on the grids.

Today’s game is a story told entirely in dialogue:

  • John and Martha are speaking
  • You must give one line to each in every comment you post
  • Nothing outside of the quotations marks, except, for example, ‘he said,’ or ‘she retorted,’  for effect and identification
  • Always identify who is talking (be clever about this)
  • Play now and play often

We’ll try to keep it cohesive, but who knows what fresh hell will befall us today. The story will be created when you take the comment above yours into account. Comments will descend, oldest to newest. I’ll give you the first two lines.

“Would you pass the salt, John,” Martha asked.

“Get your own damn salt, woman,” he yelled.

Let’s go!

“No!” she snapped, “I’m not getting my own damned salt. 43 years and I ask one thing? Get my own damned salt…”

“Huh?” he exhaled as his jaw dropped.

“What are you talking about, one thing?” he chuckled.

“Name something else I’ve asked for.”
